Not less than nine people were reportedly killed in Isanlu, Kogi State on Thursday as robbers invaded the Divisional Police Station and robbed the First Bank branch in the town.
The deceased were said to be mainly police officers, among whom was the Divisional Police Office of the town, five other policemen and two policewomen.
It was gathered that the DPO, the policewomen and four policemen were attacked and killed within the station’s premises while another was killed at the bank.
The only civilian was said to have been hit by a stray bullet.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 1.00 p.m when the robbers attacked the station before proceeding to the bank to cart away an unknown amount of money.
The spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command, William Ayah, confirmed the attack but said the number of casualties could not be ascertained as at press time.
