Don’t get it twisted, we all know the wreck coronavirus brought to us individually and as a globe, but I wasn’t going to get that serious. I only collated some of the most popular social media challenges that the world has been using to pass the coronavirus time. They are called challenges; after all, they require efforts too.
Stay-at-home challenge: Toilet papers had a beautiful March 2020. Humans found them a new role, as against the nasty way they end their lives. This challenge sees an individual do as many kick-ups as possible with a roll of tissue paper, before kicking it off and nominating someone else. Little wonder toilet paper became scarce in super markets at the emergence of coronavirus. We thought people were buying to sneeze and cough into, but alas, we were wrong.
He’s-got-the-whole-world challenge: Tyler Perry on this one got the whole world singing to ease the tension that came with the coronavirus. He shared a video of himself and other stars singing the song “He’s got the whole world”. He turned it into a challenge, encouraging people to come together in prayers. The Likes of Yolanda Adams, Jennifer Hudson, Travis Greene and a host of many others added their sweet voices. See video below
Flip-the-switch challenge: Being one of the funniest, it was birthed on TikTok before spreading to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Two people stand in front of a mirror with the one in front holding the phone; the light goes off and on at the sound of ‘flipped, flipped’ in Drake’s ‘Nonstop’; when it comes back on, the two people are now wearing each other’s outfit. The videos are between 13 and 15 seconds and are quite hilarious as we see males and females, parents and children change outfits. I might be doing a research on how long it took them to rehearse, especially the older ones.
Couples challenge: Also known as Questions and Answers couples challenge on TikTok, you and your partner answer a bunch of questions about each other and/or your relationship. You both answer with your eyes closed by pointing to who you think fits in. For instance, if they ask ‘who’s the most romantic?’, you point to who you think is, while you record with your phone so as to see the result after.
I believe the era of challenges isn’t over yet, as we have no idea when our compulsory stay-at-home will end.
An extra bit by the way is ‘Anonymous Message’. Oh, it’s not a challenge, but a site where you write secret messages to people, who have no idea that it’s you, except you decide to drop a clue in the message. Want an advice? Don’t drop a hint if you want to be nasty.
Good read bringing to fore how the world has been #stayingsafe during these times. I guess I need to try out at least on of these challenges.
