Former Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, has died in Cairo, aged 91.
His death was confirmed by Egyptian state news on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, the Al-Watan website reported that he died at a military hospital.
Mubarak spent three decades in office before a popular uprising swept Egypt and he was ousted by the military in 2011.
He was thereafter found guilty of complicity in the killing of protesters during the revolution but this was overturned, leading to his freedom in March 2017.
Mubarak underwent surgery in late January after years of illness.
An Egyptian military and political leader, Mubarak was the fourth president of Egypt from 1981 to 2011.
Before his political career, he was in the Egyptian Air Force and served as commander from 1972 to 1975 before he rose to the rank of Air Chief Marshal in 1973.
He became the president after the assassination of Anwar Sadat.
