The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, has been suspended by the Executive Committee of the party in Igyorov Ward of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.
The chairman was suspended with immediate effect for anti-party activities after a vote of no confidence was passed on him.
The secretary of the party in the ward, Banger Dooyum, alleged that Ayu’s anti-party activities, which he carried out with his allies who worked for the All Progressives Party, contributed to PDP’s loss in his ward and local government during the last governorship election.
He was also accused of not paying his annual dues as stipulated by the party’s constitution, and that he did not vote during the governorship and state assembly elections held on the 18th of March, 2023.
Twelve out of the seventeen exco members signed the documents endorsing his suspension, including the chairman of Igyorov, Kashi Philip.
