Police in Ogun State have begun investigation into a rape case involving a 46-year-old man, Olusegun Oluwole, who was accused of raping his 17-years-old daughter.
This was contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi.
The statement said the victim, who was accompanied by operatives of So Safe Corps to the station, alleged that her father carried out the dastardly act in their one-room apartment at Amolaso area of Abeokuta around 11.30p.m. while others were asleep.
“Upon the report, the DPO Ibara division, CSP Bernard Egbondiya, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested.
“On interrogation, the father of six, who confessed to the crime pleaded for forgiveness, claiming not knowing what came over him when he committed the crime,” the statement added.
The case had been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department while the victim was taken to the general hospital for medical treatment.
