Family Search International is set to train youths in Ajoni Local Council Development Area of Ekiti State to reduce unemployment in the community.
This was made known during the flag off of African History and Oral Genealogy Project’s training session organised by the non governmental organisation.
The Executive Chairman of the LCDA, Prince Michael Ogungbemi, said the training will solidify the council’s partnership with the international NGO to provide employment opportunities for young people and desiring individuals.
He congratulated the participants for participating in the laudable programme.
” This programme is to accentuate and engage the passion, innovation and creativity of the youths with a view to making them productive, and thereby paving ways of meaningful livelihood for themselves.
” African History and Oral Genealogy Project is not only meant to enhance the quality of life, knowledge and skills development of our youths, but also to expose them, through participation, to a survey research on genealogy across Africa; tracing family history, connecting and unifying families, and creating an archive for family heritage.
” It is open to unemployed graduates and workers who desire to have additional source of income,” he revealed.
Speaking on the focus of the training, Ogungbemi said, “After this intensive training and through the parameters to be used by the Coordinators of the Project, selection would be in two categories, Field Managers and Field Officers, based on demonstrable capabilities and skills, and you would be remunerated accordingly and engaged for two years.
“You are required to have quality Android phones to aid your performance on the job because of the media application that would be deployed.”
He lamented the plights of young people affected by unemployment, assuring that the council is passionate about empowering them as it constantly explore creative ways of creating jobs.
He added, “This is a concrete way to domesticate at the grassroots the Human Capital Development and Job Creation Agenda of our performing and hard-working Governor, HE, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi.”
He commended Family Search International for bringing the intellectually engaging and life enhancing project, while lauding the management and staff of the council for their understanding, cooperation and commitment.
He therefore encouraged participants to take the rare opportunity very seriously to increase their capacities, broaden their knowledge, create social network and enhance dignity and self reliance.
