Tragedy struck in Anaye village in Emure Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Sunday morning when two young labourers fell into a deep well and lost their lives before they could be rescued.
The deceased, Foluso Ajayi aka Vosco and a young Ebira man popularly called Alhaji, were hired by a yet-to-be identified man who wanted them to work on his farm in the community.
A source revealed that one of the duo had attempted to retrieve his cell phone which fell into the well while he was fetching some water to cook but fell into the well instead. His partner also became a victim after he attempted to rescue his colleague.
Five Hausa men were hired by people in the community to bring out the bodies and it was quite a sight when the two men were brought out lifeless.
Newsafresh.com gathered that the depth of the well could have caused the death of the deceased who probably died of suffocation as it was said to have about 16 concrete rings.
Meanwhile, policemen attached to the Emure Divisional Police Station have retrieved the bodies and commenced investigations into the incident.
