THE ACADEMICs AND THE POLITICIZING OF THE FUTURE OF NIGERIA

The long history of struggling with the military oppressions towards the libration of the academics and Nigeria has yielded much to a large extent, but the coming back of democracy has depleted most of the effort of our heroes past. It is indeed sad and disheartening moment seeing that the set of democratic rulers we are having in the present day were ushered in with the help of manipulations from the academics through officiating in the process of producing them in different transitions/dispensations as we have seen amd passing through the experience.

Actually, the set backs this great country has been experiencing is when the appoint umpires happens to bee playing by their cards, which today at the long run is getting back at us due to the greed, self centeredness and the poverty they have inflicted upon us in the system.

Since the return of democracy in 1996 till date, the highest ranking officers in the ivory towers of this country are appointed tenure after tenure to guide the affairs of the politicking and electioneering process. More so, in few months to come another erudite personality will emerge as the new head and same in no distant time it will be the year 2026. The year Nigeria will be celebrating 30 years of return to democracy, but with less or very minimal to showcase in time of progressiveness in economy, education, infrastructure an many more, as a developing nation and African giant.

The Apex categories of the INEC AD-HOC staff still remain and will come from the academic communities. Yes, we still have another chance to change the narratives bewitching us, this is achievable by keeping aside our greed, hunger and political inclination or affiliation with some of this politicians. just One sad truth is that even if the citizens at the grassroot level decides to change and push towards making history for the better with their PVC’s. It can only come to reality with the decisions made by this intellectual INEC AD-HOC staff who serves at different strata during the electioneering period.

It is hight time we bring to our notice that, the respect accorded to the academics in the society is gradually deminishing by the day and the utmost respect left is the one we on daily bases experience within the fore walls of the classrooms and within the environs of our respective institutions of primary assignment.

There is still an ample time for this category of persons to make such a drastic turn around and one time decision for the future of Nigerians, which Prof. Jega has long paved a way for them to be part of the strategic decision making for this country and continent. Else we will keep moving on the same hopeless pavements or even worst (God forbid it) than the present situation we are faced with in Nigeria.

As Prof. Lamumba once said;“ANY DAY THAT NIGERIA DECIDES TO GET IT RIGHT, THEM THE REST OF AFRICA WILL BE LIBRATED”.

Indeed, year 2027 can be a great history for us and the common African natives. So help is God. Ameen.
