The authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, have extended the mid-semester due to the ongoing industrial action by various unions of Nigerian universities.
This was contained in a statement signed by the institution’s Registrar and Secretary to Council, M.I Omosule, on Thursday.
The statement said following the initial announcement of a two-week mid-semester break from March 28, it is necessary to commence another from April 11 due to the ongoing strike.
”With full realization of the import and impact of the industrial actions embarked upon by various Unions within the Nigerian university system, the University Management has decided to elongate the mid-semester break by four (4) weeks.
”Students are therefore directed to continue with the mid-semester break for four (4) weeks beginning from Monday, 11th April, 2022.
”We wish our esteemed students a productive and most refreshing break,” the statement read.
