A 36-year-old house agent, Adebayo Gbenga, was on Wednesday arraigned at a Grade 1 Area Court, Karu, Abuja, for allegedly stealing properties worth N10 million.
The prosecutor, Olanrewaju Osho, alleged that the complainant left his building located at Pianko Junction, Karshi-Orozo road, in care of the accused person as the agent before travelling out of the country.
According to Osho, the defendant subsequently stole a screwing machine, television set, high file system, double-door fridge, microwave and water dispenser.
He also stole a blender, air conditioner, barbecue machine, DJ equipment, three decoders, Play Station, carpet, W.C, three pressure machines, all the wires in the house and restaurant equipment.
Other items he stole included three phones, two generators, sound light fittings, an anti-mosquito device, water boiler and children toy bouncer, totalling N10 million.
The prosecutor told the court that during police investigation, a pair of shoes, battery to the screwing machine, blanket and pillow case belonging to the complainant were found in the defendants apartment.
Gbenga, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The judge, Umar Mayana, granted the defendant a bail of 5 million naira with two reasonable sureties, adding that a sum of N200,000 must be deposited at the court as part of the bail bond.
One of the sureties, according to the judge, must be a title holder while the other must submit a statement of account to the court registry and residential address verified by the court and police personnel.
Mayana adjourned the case until March 31 for further hearing.
