Ondo State Police Command on Friday confirmed the arrest of the suspected kidnapper of Gold Kolawole, a one-year-old boy who went missing at Sotitobire Praising Chapel in Akure few months ago.
Chibuzor Elike, who adopted the name ‘Adamu’, was said to have claimed to have the missing child in his custody in Akure.
It would be recalled that Kolawole reportedly went missing at the children section of the church located at Oshinle area during a church service in November 2019.
The founder of the church, Prophet Alfa Babatunde, and six others were later arrested and charged to court by the Department of State Services (DSS).
On Friday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed the arrest and confession of 39-year-old Chubuzor.
Also confirming the development, counsel to Babatunde, Mr Sola Oke, said the suspect was arrested in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he fled to.
Oke alleged that the suspect committed the offence to implicate Babatunde. He therefore urged the police command to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
