Sit-at-home Order: We’ll Deal with Troublemakers on Friday, Says Delta Police

The Delta State Police Command has warned that anyone who tried to enforce the Friday sit-at-home order given through a YouTube account, Enter Biafra Live by Simon Ekpa, would be dealt with.

Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed disciple of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, had, on Thursday, streamed a live video announcing the order, stating that it would be in remembrance of the massacre of October 7, 1967, during the Nigerian Civil War.

In a statement made available to Newsafresh on Thursday, Delta police spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, said the command was aware of the video ”by some faceless individual” but the message should be neglected by residents.

“For the purpose of clarity, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, FCIA, psc+, has declared that there is no “sit at home order” in Delta State. He assures residents of their safety and urges them to go about their lawful business as the Command is willing and able to deal decisively with anyone or group of persons who try to cause any form of trouble in the State.

“He admonishes members of the public, particularly residents of Asaba to report any strange and suspicious movements or persons in their neighborhood to the Command or other law enforcement agencies.”

Edafe stated that the Commissioner of Police had also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to maintain police presence in every nook and cranny of the state to displace hoodlums.

“Delta State Police Command can be contacted through the following numbers: Command Control Room via +234 803 668 4974 or the the PPRO’s Office on +234 915 557 0008, +234 915 557 0007,” he added.
