President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday directed ministers in his cabinet with presidential ambition to resign immediately.
Buhari gave the directive at the Federal Executive Council meeting.
The president also said appointees who are contesting for various positions should follow suit.
By implication, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and others are expected to leave their current positions.
