Police, vigilantes arrest suspected cultists in Ekiti

Operatives of the Anti-Cultism Unit, Ekiti State Police Command, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria have arrested seven suspected cultists in Omuo-Ekiti, Ekiti East Local Government Area of the state.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, said the suspects were Gbenga Abiodun Oluwatobi, 26, Akinola Ademola Ojo, 22, Rotimi Tolulope, 35, Samuel Sesan, 22, Abiodun Adeleke, 42, Olagunju Temitope, 21 and Adekunle Oluwaseun, 24.

Abutu disclosed that the suspects, who confessed that they were members of Eiye confraternity and were having their usual meeting and registration of new members, were apprehended at the Broni-Broni Quarry construction site in the town.

”The suspects were arrested with some wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp including their registration notebook that contains their names and ranks such as Coordinator, N.G1 to N.G5, Flight Commander 1 to Flight Commander 7, Eagle 1 to Eagle 8, Government, Mopol 33, amongst others.

”The suspects will be arraigned accordingly while effort is in progress to arrest other fleeing suspects,” the statement said.
