Authorities of the Nigeria Police have declared war on errant Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives tarnishing the image of the force amidst call for scraping of the unit.
The development came days after a Remo Stars Football Club player, Tiamiyu Kazeem (aka Kaka), was allegedly killed by men of the Squad in Sagamu, Ogun State, on Sunday.
Police authorities stated that SARS operatives could only legally arrest armed robbers and kidnappers, not suspected ‘Yahoo boys’ or other citizens who have been harassed.
The general public are therefore advised to contact the police through the following means when harassed, assaulted or intimidated by SARS operatives:
