Osun coronavirus case not in OAUTHC – Source

The news of the coronavirus case at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTHC) in Ile-Ife, Osun State, has been confirmed to be false.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had on Wednesday said Osun recorded its first case of the pandemic, while news went round that it was an OAUTHC medical doctor who came back from the United Kingdom with her baby.

The information has however been confirmed false by a reliable source who said the actual case was recorded in Osogbo, the state capital, and not in Ile-Ife.

Speaking to Newsafresh.com on Wednesday evening, the source said the result of the test conducted on the woman, her husband and baby came back negative.

”The doctor is my neighbour, and my only neighbour for that matter.

”She travelled alone to the UK early February, came back last week Friday and later gave her children Chloroquine as a malaria prevention drug but the youngest reacted badly to it.

”She rushed the baby to the hospital and due to her travel history and the panic in town, rumour started going around that it was a case of coronavirus.

”She was tested alongside her husband and the baby, and the results came back negative today.

”I thank God we can now relax because the waiting period was difficult for all of us. I just want everyone to know the truth,” the source said.
