Suspected kidnappers on Friday shot a driver and abducted three people in Isinbode-Ekiti, Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
It was gathered that the assailants, numbering ten, attacked a sawmill located along Isinbode-Ode road and dispossessed the workers of their personal belongings before abducting a man and a woman.
They also waylaid a Hilux Van conveying a top government official and rained bullet on the vehicle, forcing the driver to stop after he was hit.
The abductors were said to have left the driver for dead and kidnapped the unknown top government functionary.
Confirming the incident, Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu, said the gunmen currently have two victims with them as one of the abductees had earlier escaped from captivity.
Abutu said the injured driver was rescued and taken to a hospital where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
He added that police operatives were on the trail of the assailants to rescue the victims unhurt.
