Osun State Traditional Rulers Council on Friday suspended the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, for six months over alleged public misconduct.
The resolution was reached at an emergency meeting which held at the Finance Building at the State Secretariat.
Oba Akanbi was banned from attending the Council’s meetings while a committee was set up, headed by Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Adedotun, to investigate the allegation.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Oba Adedotun said the decision was not because of alleged fight between the Oluwo and Agbowu but due to his conduct to other traditional rulers in Yorubaland, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Alake of Egbaland and the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
It would be recalled that the suspended monarch allegedly assaulted the Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Dhikurulahi Akinropo, during a peace meeting at the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone XI, Bashir Makama.
Oba Akanbi later denied the allegation, saying the injury on the assaulted monarch’s face was not inflicted by him.
