Ogun Police Arrest Two for Armed Robbery

Two suspects, Muyiwa Adebola and Lukman Ogunmuyiwa, who were allegedly members of a six-man gang terrorising Ijebu Ode and its environs have been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command.

Ademola and Ogunmuyiwa were apprehended at Olisa area of Ijebu Ode and Mushin, Lagos, respectively following a robbery incident at New Site, Imoru Ijebu around 1.30 a.m. on March 26.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the gang had, during the robbery,  shot one Ayoola Taiwo in his right knee and dispossessed residents of belongings ranging from laptops and 32 different phones to a GLK Mercedes Benz car.

The statement disclosed, “Upon the report, the DPO Igbeba division, CSP Musiliu Doga, led his men to the scene but the robbers took to flight on sighting the policemen.

“They were hotly chased and one of them, Muyiwa Adebola, was arrested at Olisa area of Ijebu Ode and one of the robbed phones was recovered from him.

“On interrogation, he informed the police that the gang members were based in Lagos State, and he subsequently led detectives to Mushin area of Lagos where the second one, Lukman Ogunmuyiwa, who also confessed his participation in the robbery was apprehended.

“Recovered so far from the two suspects are: three HP laptops and three phones belonging to the victims.”

The outgoing Commission of Police, AIG Frank Mba, has therefore ordered discreet investigation on the matter while the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
