A suspected notorious cultist, Olamide Olabode, has been arrested by the police along Ilaro-Papalanto road in Ogun State.
Police spokesman in the state, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, stating that the suspect and others at large where on their way to attack rival cult members in a village.
Oyeyemi said trouble started for Olabode when a patrol team from Ilaro division sighted him and two others on a Bajaj motorcycle.
“The suspect who was sitting at the back quickly jumped down from the motorcycle and ran into the bush with a bag. He was hotly chased and arrested, while the other two sped off on the motorcycle.
“On searching the bag with him, two locally made short guns, four live cartridges, one knife and weeds suspected to be indian hemp were recovered there in.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed been a leading member of Eiye cult group, and that they were heading to Agodo village for operation.”
The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation.
