ODEP pays accident victim’s N200,000 medical bill

A non-governmental organisation, Otunba Demola Popoola (ODEP), has paid off the hospital bill of an accident victim, Tayo Alabi, in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital as part of its social responsibility to the people of the state.

The foundation, owned by a governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress, Otunba Demola Popoola, made the philanthropic move after Alabi had an accident which led to his inability to pass out urine due to an injury to the penis.

A surgery was required to clear the blockage in private urethroplasty surgery hospital, Police Cottage Hospital, Okesa, Ado Ekiti, that would cost him four hundreds and sixty thousands naira( N460,000), a development which led to an initial payment of N200,000 by ODEP.

While applauding the kind gesture of Otunba Popoola, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Famewo Ukehmigbewon, said the donation was a laudable assistance because there was no way the patient could have raised such amount of money.

She described Otunba Popoola as God-sent to Alabi, adding that he is a man of the people because of his philanthropic virtues.

In his remarks, Alabi said he had never met Otunba Demola Popoola before the donation but someone gave him his contact while begging for assistance for the medical bills.

He therefore appreciated the donor for coming through for him for, praying that God will grant all his heart desires.
