The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) on Monday fined Channels Television, ARISE Television and Africa Independent Television (AIT) over ‘unprofessional coverage’ of the #EndSARS protests and events surrounding them.
This was announced by the Acting Director-General of the commission, Armstrong Idachaba, at press conference in Abuja.
NBC said the three stations were fined N3m each for airing ‘unverified images of alleged shooting’.
Recall that the commission had last week warned media houses against contents that would embarrass ‘individuals, government or cause disaffection, incite to panic or rift in the society at large’.
