The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has donated palliative items to Ekiti State Government as part of its contribution to cushion the effect of the current lockdown on citizens in the state.
The IBEDC Osun Regional Head, Mr Akin Ogunleye, who led other members of his team to deliver the consignment on Tuesday at the Government House in Ado Ekiti, said the donation was made as part of the corporate social responsibility of the company.
He listed items delivered to include 1,500 (1) Kg of Semovita, 1,000 5Kg of rice and 500 Cartons of Noodles.
He applauded the proactive measures the federal and state governments had initially put in place in the fight against the pandemic, saying the parliatives, brought by the organization, was meant to compliment government efforts, realizing the fact that the latter cannot solely satisfy the needs of the teeming public.
According to him, the IBEDC, as a law-abiding corporate and socially responsible organization, had earmarked about N100m for the project, involving various relief items, to be supplied to the states of Oyo, Ogun, Osun and Kwara, including parts of Niger, Kogi and Ekiti states, covered by the region.
” In addition to this, we are also supporting the University College Hospital(UCH), one of the major medical facilities within our area of jurisdiction, which had been designated as a apex care giver in the COVID-19 battle.
” We are also committed to providing our customers in all the coverage areas, regular power supply as mucEkiti it is within our remit and control.
“Our staff on essential duty, especially the technical crew, are particularly on ground to repair faults promptly.
“All these are being done to support the various government initiatives and to help reduce the hardship the lockdown has occasioned on citizens,” he said.
Receiving the items on behalf of the state government, the Secretary to the Government Response Committee, Mrs Margaret Fagboyo, thanked IBEDC for the gestures, and promised that the distribution would get to the targetted residents.
