Insecurity: Give constitutional roles to traditional rulers, Oba Ilori-Faboro charges govt

The Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Ilori-Faboro, has advocated for constitutional roles for traditional rulers in the country to run the affairs of their community.

Oba Ilori-Faboro noted that traditional institutional should be considered when writing the constitution for their input to solves some problems in the nation.

Oba Ilori-Faboro stated this at a press conference heralding the ‘Ajodun Ido Oganganmodu 2021’, where he called on all sons and daughters of the community to come for the celebration.

He pointed out that some traditional rulers bear the burden of castigations as their subjects blame them for the rate of insecurity that have bedeviled the nation.

The monarch stated that despite working assiduously to checkmate criminal activities in the community, there are still challenges, as the government has the sole right empowered by the constitution to provide security for the people.

He further appealed to the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to help the town reconstruct their inter-town road which are very bad at the moment.

Explaining the activities for the weeklong Ido-Faboro Day, the chairman of the planning committee, Mr Abiodun Abe and the National President, Ajodun Ido,  Hon. Dr. Sola Ogunsina, said traditional cuisine (Arin and Alamo), free medical check up, Arewa Ogangan Beauty Contest which will attract a Toyota Camry car prize, presentation of honorary chieftaincy titles, religious functions, sanitation, among others, are the activities for the event.

The community also showcase the relics of the first car in Ekiti State (A Hudson) that was brought to the present location in April 1922 and the first story building in the state at the Oba’s palace.
