The president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has been elected as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
This was announced on the official Twitter page of Ghana’s ministry of information.
Akufo-Addo emerged the new chairman at the ongoing 57th ECOWAS Summit, which is being held in Niamey, capital of Niger Republic.
He succeeds President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger Republic, who has been in power since June 29, 2019.
