A charity foundation in Gombe state known as ‘Kishimi Shelter and Care Foundation’ has distributed foodstuffs to 190 children living with Human Immuno Deficiency Virus (HIV) in the state

Speaking while distributing foodstuff to the beneficiaries at the state ministry of women affairs and child development, the Executive Director of the foundation, Mrs Grace Tony Samuel, explained that the foodstuffs were donated to the organisation by Fidelity Bank.

She said the gesture was meant to bring succour to the vulnerable children that take HIV/AIDS drugs.

“We are here to give palliative support to vulnerable children specifically children that are down with HIV and AIDS.

“These are children that are taking drugs and you can’t take drugs in an empty stomach. So this is one of the main reasons we are doing this,” she stated.

She said the foodstuff included maize, rice and tomatoes, adding that the 190 beneficiaries were selected from four local governments of Gombe, Yamaltu Deba, Akko and Balanga.

She called on those who are well-to do to bring interventions to the foundation, noting that they have enrolled more than 7, 000 children in the state but only 190 got the support.
