Ekiti State has announced five new cases of COVID-19 as the total number of confirmed infections in the state rose to 25.
The cases were said to have been recorded at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI).
Briefing newsmen on Wednesday, the state’s Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Mrs Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, said two of the cases were health workers while others were old patients at the teaching hospital.
Yaya-Kolade disclosed that the new cases were from the 53 samples taken from contacts connected with the 75-year-old woman who was transferred from Omu-Aran in Kwara State to FETHI but later died.
She noted that the two health workers were still asymptomatic, though they will be given maximum attention and treatment as others.
She said the state government is currently disinfecting the isolation centre to keep the facility free of the
virus and keep workers and patients safe at all time.
