Tears flowed freely on Thursday as the Ekiti State Surveyor General, Mr Felix Oladapo Osalusi, was buried in his home town, Ode-Ekiti, in Gbonyin Local Government area of the state.
Osalusi died on Saturday, March 28, 2020, after a brief illness, aged 59.
The funeral service which held at the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Ayedun in Ode-Ekiti, was attended by religious leaders, government functionaries, family, friends and sympathizers with adherence to COVID-19 social gathering regulations.
The Bishop, Rt. Rev. Omoniyi Ilori Titus and the Acting Presbyter/Minister in Charge, Rev. Adejadelo Owoyele, condoled with the traditional monarch, Olode of Ode-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Adedara Aderiye and people of the town over the untimely death of their illustrious son.
In their admonitions, the clerics charged attendees on good deeds and fear of God, saying the good works of the deceased would live after him for everlasting reward.
“Death is a mystery of God. Nobody knows when, where and how he’s going to die. People will continue to remember the good works or otherwise which you did while on earth.
“Osalusi was a God-fearing, dedicated and committed human being whose untimely death shall continue to linger in the minds of everyone.
“It’s only God that can uphold the Osalusi’s family. Who are we to challenge God, the maker of the earth?
They urged the wife of the deceased, Mrs Helen Osalusi, and the children to focus on God as their comforters, adding that Osalusi was the Balogun of Methodist Church of the Diocese and he played significant roles, including distribution of Bibles in schools.
The funeral service was attended by the Ekiti Head of Service, Mrs Peju Babafemi, former Deputy Governor of the state, Surveyor Abiodun Aluko, Permanent Secretaries, and members of surveyors’ associations from Abuja, Lagos, Ondo and Ekiti.
Until his death, Osalusi was the Surveyor General of the state, a position he held since 2012.
