Ekiti South: Tension as Appeal Court move to Kaduna for judgment

There was tension in Ekiti on Wednesday as information revealed that the Appeal Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has moved to Kaduna to deliver judgment on the case brought before it by Senator Dayo Adeyeye to challenge the tribunal victory of Senator Biodun Olujimi.

The information was passed across by court officials, though no reason was given for the change-of-venue action.

Leading a three-member tribunal panel, Justice D.D. Adeck had, on September 10, 2019, ordered INEC to withdraw the Certificate of Return given to Adeyeye of the All Progressives Congress and issue a fresh one to Olujimi of the People’s Democratic Party.

The panel upheld Olujimi’s averments that there was no proper accreditation and proper account of ballots, and that the number of votes or ballots recorded is more or less than the number of accredited voters, among others.

After the Tribunal deducted votes from what the two parties scored at the election, PDP had 54,894 and APC was credited with 52,243.

However, Adeyeye filed a 19-ground appeal against the judgment within a week.
