The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has rejected the nullification of the election of its Ekiti South Senatorial district flagbearer, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, by the Court of Appeal, insisting that it did not reflect the wishes of voters.
This was sequel to the Appeal Court’s verdict on Wednesday which sacked the senate’s spokesman and ruled that a new Certificate of Return be issued to former minority leader, Senator Biodun Olujimi.
In a statement terse by its Director of Media and Publicity, Elder Sam Oluwalana, the party described the judgment as ”a travesty of Justice and robbing Peter to pay Paul”.
It however said the short period spent by Senator Adeyeye was ”indelible and remarkable for the people of Ekiti South and the state in general”.
“We commend Prince Dayo Adeyeye, who was highly revered by his colleagues in the Upper Chamber, for the exemplary leadership, which he exhibited within the short period he spent in the Senate. We area proud of his achievements during the period, as he was able to manage information outflow, without any scandal in the House, ” the statement said.
It therefore appealed to supporters to go about their normal businesses, while encouraging them not to be discouraged by the verdict.
