The Ekiti State Government has named and shamed a convicted rapist, Tope Sola Ojolo, after a life sentence was handed to him.
Justice Lekan Ogunmoye had earlier sentenced the 26-year-old to 21 years imprisonment and life imprisonment for robbery and rape respectively.
Ojolo had, on November 17, 2017, dragged a 19-year-old student of College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti (now Bamidele Olumilua University) into an uncompleted building near the school and raped her twice before dispossessing her of N50,000, phone and other personal belongings.
To proof his case, the State Counsel Olawale Fapohunda (SAN), called four witnesses and tendered statements of the defendant, medical report, statements of the victim, paint bucket used during the act, among others as exhibits, while the convict spoke through his counsel, Sunday Ochayi, and called no witness.
Justice Ogunmoye consequently found Ojolo guilty and sentenced him accordingly, ruling that both sentences run concurrently.

Newsafresh reports that under the initiative, names and photographs of convicted rapists are pasted on billboards in prominent public spaces in their communities, local government council headquarters, website of the state Ministry of Justice and other government platforms.
