Ekiti: Four to die by hanging for murder, armed robbery

The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice J . O. Adeyeye, has sentenced four persons to death by hanging for murder and armed robbery.

Babangida Amodu, Oluwafemi Ibrahim, Ojo Ayodele and Okunato Dada where convicted after arraignment and trial for the offences committed on the 7th of June, 2018, at Ijoka, Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti when they robbed and stabbed one Mohammed Sanusi to death.

One of the suspects, Ibrahim Isiaka, managed to escape.

During trial, the prosecution team, led by the Deputy Director Public Prosecutions, Ekiti State, F.O. Awoniyi, called five witnesses including a pathologist who testified to the cause of death of the deceased.

The defendants testified in their defence while the 3rd defendant called a witness in support of his defence.

Delivering judgment, Justice Adeyeye held that the prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt and thereby convicted and sentenced each of the defendants to death by hanging.
