Ekiti State Government on Saturday confirmed four news cases of COVID-19 as total number of cases in the state rose to eight.
The new cases are said to be primary contacts of the fourth case, a 45-year-old medical doctor who contracted the virus through a 29-year-old woman, now deceased.
This was made known in a statement personally signed by Governor Kayode Fayemi on Saturday.
The statement said, ” The new cases are primary contacts of the 4th recorded case, a male doctor, aged 45 years old, who carried out a surgery on the recently deceased third positive case, during childbirth.
”The newly confirmed cases are currently stable and asymptomatic and they have been transferred to the State’s Isolation Center, Ado-Ekiti, while our contact tracing team have commenced the process of contact identification and
tracing of their immediate contacts for isolation.”
The latest figure has brought to eight the total number of infected persons in the state with five active cases, two discharges and one death.
