Ekiti 2022: Ex Rep roots for MOB

*Says we can’t give our wedding dress to tailor in training

Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bimbo Daramola (alias congressman) has urged the people of Ire-Ekiti in particular and the entire members of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) to vote for Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) at the January 27 primaries and June 18 governorship election.

Daramola, who is also a strong promoter of Bamidele’s governorship aspiration, gave this admonition at a huge rally organised for Bamidele in Ire-Ekiti at the weekend.

Specifically, the former legislator said the event was meant to fraternise with his  people and to also coalesce support for one of the leading lights in Ekiti politics, Senator Bamidele, who is running for the number one position on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC).

Addressing the crowd of party supporters and his kinsmen, the apparently elated Daramola expressed appreciation for the  huge show of love and support by his people during his last political exploits and current quest.

He also urged them to stand by him and support the political aspiration of MOB who  he described as not only the most qualified amongst the contenders, but the most experienced and politically connected.

According to him, Bamidele remains a true and loyal party man who had contributed immensely to the growth and sustenance of progressive political ideology in Ekiti in particular and Nigeria as a whole.

Senator Opeyemi Bamidele

“The circumstances around Bamidele’s political aspiration stands him out amongst his peers. Bamidele brings a huge credentials that we need to savage a state like Ekiti. He is experienced, he knows how to manage politics, he knows how to manage government as well. He was in cabinet of Lagos government for 12 years unbroken. Nobody has that record amongst the contestants in Ekiti.

“Bamidele helped Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to stabilise Lagos when the latter had faceoff with the Federal Government during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo.”

The Ire-Ekiti born politician disclosed that Bamidele had made his marks in politics, having garnered requisite experience in the executive, legislative and by extension  judicial arms of government, by the virtue of his current position  as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters.

“Yes, I have many friends amongst the aspirants in Ekiti, but MOB stands out. I have told my people to see this as my own project because I have never misled or deceived them since I joined politics. 2022 is a critical year for us in Ekiti because we want to choose somebody who is going pilot the affairs of the state for another four years.

Daramola added, “We cannot afford to miss this golden opportunity to elect a capable hand. I believe MOB will unite the party. You cannot give your wedding dress to a tailor in training and I hope that Ekiti people would be able to analyse things critically. Ekiti needs MOB’s experience and connections at this time. More than 15 of his contemporaries in Lagos are in top hierarchy of government today in Abuja. The likes of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Rauf Aregbesola, Raji Fashola and Ben Akabueze. You can imagine  the kind of benefits Bamidele will bring to the table. MOB controls what happens in the 77 local governments in Lagos State and Ekiti stands to benefit a lot from the sister-to-sister relationship”

Daramola recalled how Bamidele stood by the party in Ekiti during its dark days, urging the party leadership to reward his genuine  sacrifices by supporting his political aspiration to be governor of Ekiti in 2022.

“The only factor that is responsible for this tumultuous demonstration of love for me is the fact I have never let my people down. When I represented them at the National Assembly between 2011-2014, I brought the dividends of democracy back home and some of my legacies are still here today. Even after leaving office, I still maintain a cordial  relationship with my people. They know that whatever it is in my hand, I will share with them.

“Just recently, I facilitated an empowerment programme where over 150 people benefitted. And this is not the first, I have mentored a number youths not just in my community but in Ekiti .

” So, when I talk to them they know I can’t deceive them. I love my people from the bottom of my learnt. I am urging them to support my principal and one of the finest Ekiti politicians of our time in person of MOB,” Daramola said.
