Eid-el-Kabir: IGP orders 24-hour surveillance

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has assured Nigerian of adequate security during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration just as he ordered 24-hour surveillance across the nation.

In a statement on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, the measure is to prevent breakdown of law and order and allow for peaceful celebration of Sallah.

According to him, ” As part of measures toward ensuring a peaceful and incident-free Sallah celebration, the IGP has directed all Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) in charge of Zones and State Commands nationwide to deploy adequate operational manpower and equipment to protect all places of public interest, including: shopping malls, motor parks, financial institutions, places of worship and recreation centres to enable holiday makers, worshippers and the general public enjoy optimum safety and security during the season.

”The IGP in particular has directed that all State Commissioners of Police including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) should put in place strategic and customized security deployment on major highways straddling their Areas of Responsibilities (AOR) to ensure adequate safety for travelers and other road users.

The IGP further expresses goodwill to all Nigerians, especially Muslim Ummah, as they join other faithfuls across the globe to celebrate the revered festival.

He assured all and sundry of effective policing, while urging citizens to watch out for suspicious activities and report such promptly.
