- Daily Independent Honour: Women Group Congratulates FUOYE VC, Fasina on Award of Excellenc
A women advocacy group, Women for Good Governance and Transparency (WGT), has congratulated the amiable Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, for emerging the Daily Independent newspaper’s Vice-Chancellor of the year 2024, saying it was a well-deserved honour for the astute scholar and quintessential University administrator.
WGT in a press statement issued to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday, described the honour bestowed on Prof. Fasina last Saturday as a well-deserved one given the fact that the Professor of Pedology had given his best in terms of selfless and great service to the University.
The statement reads in part: ” We are pleased to congratulate the astute scholar and progressive minded administrator, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina on the occasion of the prestigious award of Excellence entitled: ” Vice-Chancellor of the Year 2024″. The honour is very significant as it has come at a time like this, when enemies of progress were making serious effort to rubbish the hard work the Prof. Fasina has done in FUOYE.
Indeed, Prof. Fasina deserves this great honour because of the excellent work he has done, which has made him simply the best Vice-Chancellor FUOYE has had since the inception of the University.
Prof. Fasina’s achievements have been acknowledged by all parties, particularly the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) whose Executive Secretary, Arch. Sunny Achono , at a recent function , commended the Vice-Chancellor for judicious use of funds made available to his office for providing infrastructural facilities on the twin campuses of the university.
In the last four years of Prof. Fasina, he has achieved an amazing achievement of putting in place over 156 infrastructural facilities meant to create very conducive environment for teaching, learning, and cutting-edge research. The University had moved from a stage of oblivion before Prof. Fasina’s tenure, into amazing limelight in the last four years. A recent proclamation by the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination Board ( JAMB), Prof. Isaq Oloyede that FUOYE is the fourth most sought after University in Nigeria, is a telling testimony to these giant strides.
On this note, we congratulate the quintessential University administrator and astute scholar for winning this garland of excellence. Congratulations, Sir.
