After more than 100 days, Thailand has reported its first locally transmitted coronavirus infection.
The case, according to health officials, is a recently convicted Bangkok prison inmate with no recent foreign travel history.
The 37-year-old’s COVID-19 status was discovered during routine checks, while all those who had been in contact with him in the past two weeks were being contacted and told to isolate.

The contacts include people at three places where he had worked and the court where he was convicted.
Thailand remains one of the countries managing the current pandemic as all of its cases since late May have been people who were quarantined after returning from oversees.
As at 2:54 p.m. (GMT) on Thursday, Thailand has 3,427 total cases with 3, 277 recoveries, 92 active cases and 58 deaths.
