The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Thursday convicted a former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, who was charged with N7.1bn fraud.
The current Chief Whip of the Senate was also sentenced to 12 years imprisonment, while his assets would be forfeited to the federal government, and his company, Slok Nigeria Limited, wound up.
He was found guilty in all the 39 counts levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
