Chadian President, Idriss Déby, has died after sustaining injuries during clash with rebels in the north of the country at the weekend, the army said.
Déby, 68, died shortly after provisional election results projected that he won a sixth term.
Currently, the government and parliament have been dissolved as the military council, led by the deceased 37-year-old son, Mahamat Idriss Déby, would govern the nation.
Déby came to power in a rebellion in 1990.
He had visited the front line at the weekend to visit troops fighting rebels across Libya’s border.
