Fifteen petrol stations and two gas plants have been sealed off by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Osun State over non-compliance to global best practices.
The Controller of Operations, Mr Ademola Makinde, made this known on Thursday after a routine surveillance.
He stated that the exercise was carried out to protect Nigerians from petrol stations and gas plants operators who are involved in sharp practices.
He said 29 petrol stations were visited before 15 were switched off due to shortchanging of customers and operating without valid licence.
”If you are under-dispensing to a marginal level, we may require you to go and reset your pump and which we will inspect for possible reopening.
“But if there are critical infractions, penalties ranges from N100, 000 to N1 million, ans N1 million fine if by chance any marketer tampered with the DPR official seal,” he said.
