Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases top 5,000 as NCDC apologises to Kaduna govt

Cases of coronavirus in Nigeria on Thursday rose above 5,000 as 193 new cases were recorded in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The new cases increased the number of infected persons in the country to 5, 162.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control disclosed this via its verified Twitter handle, @ncdcgov.

Meanwhile, the centre has apologised to the Kaduna State government for the error committed while compiling the total number of cases in the state.

”Two cases reported yesterday from Kaduna were repeat tests. Therefore, Kaduna has a total of 114 confirmed cases

”We apologise to @contactkdsg and remain committed to ensuring the release of accurate & reliable data,” NCDC said.
