Kwara State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Adamu Alhaji Bawa, one Jamiu Suleiman who allegedly murdered his friend, as well as sixteen others for allegedly matcheting a policeman on duty.
Parading the suspects, the state Commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, said they were arrested in different parts of the state.
According to him, Bawa, an indigene of Katsina State, ran to Kwara for cover after committing the crime, while Sulaiman also committed the alleged crime in Lagos and relocated to Kwara.
He noted that the other sixteen suspects, who were land grabbers, were arrested at Egbejila in Ilorin West Local Government area of the state where they attacked their victims and dispossessed them of their valuables.
He said while on rampage, they matcheted a policeman who was at the area to discharge his lawful duty.
Egbetokun therefore said all suspects would be charged to court for prosecution as soon as investigations are completed.
Reacting to the kidnapping allegation, Bawa denied committing the crime, saying his parents relocated from Katsina to Kwara and that he was arrested in Tsaragi area of the state while returning from a village market where he purchased food items for his family.
He urged the police authority to closely check the facts of his case and ensure justice is done, so he could be released to take care of his ailing mother.
