Days after disapproving the call for a consensus presidential candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Saturday said he might consider agreeing with supporters of the arrangement.
Wike, who disclosed this in Minna, Niger State during a visit to PDP delegates ahead of the presidential primary, said his condition would be on assurance of equity, justice and fairness.
He also accused those clamouring for the consensus candidate of not being sincere, though he said he was ready to support whoever emerges the flagbearer of the party.
Wike, a presidential aspirant himself, said, “I will agree on consensus if it is based on equity, justice, and fairness because as it is, those who are talking about consensus are not sincere and there is nothing like consensus in our constitution.
“Whoever emerges as the flagbearer, I will do whatever I can to ensure that the PDP wins the election.”
He added that he had been a member of the party since 1998 and had never left even during turbulent season.
