A 300-level student of Ekiti State University, Bukola Odeyemi, has been arrested by the police for stabbing his boyfriend, John Iju, to death.
The suspect, a student in the Department of Biology Education at the state-owned university was said to have carried out the dastardly act at Treasure Base Hostel, Iworoko Ekiti, around 10pm on Monday.
Witnesses said the 20-year-old had demanded the sum of two thousand five hundred naira (N2,500) from his 22-year-old lover, also a student of EKSU, to get her hair done at the salon, but an argument ensued after the deceased refused to give her the money.
During the scuffle, Odeyemi reportedly stabbed Iju in the chest and his cry for help attracted his friends who called later called the police.
Unfortunately, he did not survive the injury.
Confirming the incident, Ekiti State Police spokesman, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, said the suspect has been arrested and will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.
