IYDC: Ayo Akande breaks African record

Nigeria’s ace broadcaster, Ayodele Akande, popularly known as AY Nigeria, has become the first Nigerian to be appointed as the Secretary-General of the General Assembly for the International Youth Diplomacy Conference.

Akande was appointed by the Board of Trustee of the Innovation for Empowerment and Development (IFED) to oversee general assembly activities and supervise this year’s event, tagged IYDC-Accra 2022.

In a letter dated 10th February, 2022, and signed by IFED’s Executive President, Acheampong Tutu, the Board empowered Akande to supervise the conference, work in partnership with other officials and directorate, and publicise the conference while enjoying specific benefits of the new role.

Newsafresh reports that the Nigerian joined IFED in 2018 and has exuded dedication, discipline and dexterity, hence the decision to appoint him.

An award-winning On-Air-Personality, Ayodele Akande currently serves as the Chief Errand Officer of AY Nigeria Media Company.

The International Youth Diplomacy Conference (IYDC) is a flagship event of Innovation for Empowerment and Development (IFED) Global, that attracts over 300 young diplomats from all over the world to galvanise support, network and share ideas on creating a better continent. It is an innovation of the Model United Nations Conference, a simulation of the United Nations General Assembly, Security Council and other agencies under the United Nations bringing together youths across Africa and beyond to discuss pertinent issues of global interest.
