A new report has emerged to refute the claim that Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, was in possession of of Beninise passport at the time of his arrest.
Counsel to the activist, Ibrahim David Salami, made this known to BBC Yoruba, stressing that his client was arrested with Nigerian and German passports.
This is contrary to claims that Igboho was charged for possessing a Beninise passport despite not being a citizen of the country.
According to Salami, “It is not true that Benin Republic passport was found on Sunday Igboho when he was arrested.
“What was found on him were Nigerian and German passport. His wife had only her German passport on her at the point of arrest.”
Recall that Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested on Monday night and had been in custody of the Benin Republic government until the latter was released by the Cour De’appal De Cotonou on Thursday while Igboho would be in detention till Monday next week.
